Lake Alpine Spring Thaw

Posted on Updated on

014The road to Ebbetts Pass had opened up and I decided to get up early and drive up to Alpine Lake to catch the sun rise. It was cloudy and overcast. I wasn’t able to get the sun rise. But, I could hear water flowing fast and there was this waterfall near the cabins at Alpine Lake.

Another favorite from my 2013 trip to Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons. I was with a photographer guide and he asked, “what I was going for?” in this shot. I said that it looked like “Islands in the Sky”. It gave the reflection of the mountains  a 3D texture.

Staying with my reflections in water theme. This is String Lake in Wyoming.

Overexposed

Yesterday’s photo was the sun setting over the Tahoe Basin. I thought, I’d overexpose the photo (5 seconds) to show you the rock outcropping in the lake. The lake level is down but the water here is still relatively deep here (about 5-10 feet).

One of my favorite shots of 2014 so far. Sun setting over the North shore of Tahoe basin as seen from Sand Harbor Overlook.

If you can stand the water temperature, this is a great spot for a dip in the lake.

One of the many things I enjoy about the Tahoe Basin is the stillness of the water during certain times of the day. untitled-007
