#28 Photograph Reflections
This week I pulled #28 from the Lightbox Photography Cards set. “The challenge here is to capture something of interest in a reflection”. Many iconic landscape photographs feature this technique. My samples this week are inspired by a recent trip to Oregon.
#15 Photograph Fireworks
This week I pulled #15 from the Lightbox Photography Cards set. “This is a tough challenge, but it doesn’t have to be a big show. Go out and get some sparklers, a tripod and a remote release and experiment till your heart’s content.” I pulled this card and thought, “where am I gonna get fireworks, it’s August?!? and ‘sparklers’ are definitely out of the question in bone-dry California.” Instead, I went with Nature’s Fireworks. It was the annual Perseid Meteor Showers and found my opportunity in the night sky last week.
#12 Photograph a Door
This week I pulled #44 from the Lightbox Photography Cards set. “Doors are mysterious objects – and a natural subject for photographers.” This particular card had me walking around the neighborhood looking at doors that said, “Welcome! Come on in!” One door was bright red. I’ve walked that route almost every day on my morning walk with the pups and I’ve never really noticed it before. Some doors, had ivy in the entryways, manicured potted plants, or old newspapers piling up. This challenge card made me slow down and look and think about the subject. Funny though, I wasn’t carrying my camera to actually capture the images but it did remind me that I do need slow down and look around at all the interesting things around me. I did however have my camera phone when these pups were waiting to come inside.
#44 Photograph a Collection
This week I pulled #44 from the Lightbox Photography Cards set “Shooting a collection is a fun challenge and the results can be very portfolio worthy.” My subject this week, Little Green Army Men. A classic toy that came into popularity during World War II. Most recently seen in the Toy Story animated series. These guys were part of a display that demonstrated 3D printing. All of the figurines below, were created using a 3D printer that day.
#34 – Photograph Macro/Close-up

This week I pulled #34 from the Lightbox Photography Cards set. “Macro photography is a challenge all by itself with a wealth of subjects for you to choose from.” I took several photos that I thought fit the criteria of the challenge. The hardest part of this challenge? Getting close enough to the subject meant sitting or lying down in the dirt and rocks.
