Meiss Cabin

Louis Meiss, who emigrated from Darmstadt, Germany in 1842. In 1878 he bought 1000 acres in Alpine County, CA. The Meiss family grazed catle on the property in the summer.  In 1965 the USFS aquired the property for public use and is now part of the Tahoe Rim Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail.
