Lonely Road

Posted on Updated on

039-2Took another side road along highway 4 a few weekends ago. Nobody was on this oak lined road, except for a few cows looking at the crazy driver. I think, I need to come back here before sunset or night and see what other photos I can get from this location.

Watchful Eye

010-2When I have the time, I like to take the back roads home. Last Sunday, I took Hunt Road off of highway 4 and it meanders through Calaveras county and opens to a valley. Along the way I cut over to Rock Creek Road and I spied this bird in an old oak tree by a stream. It was fairly large and as you can see mostly white from the vantage point I had from the road. It seemed to have its watchful eye on the landscape in front of it.

As seen from the road side.

Out for a morning walk in Calaveras County, near the Mokelumne River yesterday. Rolling hills and oaks in shadow with the sun light peeking through.

Droplets

002Recent rains leave droplets of water on a maple branch.

Forest Green

056Went for a walk in the forest and this lichen’s color stood out against this old stump.

Covered in Snow

022-2The recent bad weather brought much needed rain and snow to the Tahoe basin. You can see the amount of snow that covers this pine bough.

Natural Flocking

024On our way to Tahoe this past weekend, we stopped at Shot Rock and had our first opportunity to enjoy the 1st snow fall of the season. I loved the natural flocking on these old junipers.

Rain is coming

023Recent weather has me cooped up inside and a chance to revisit some photos from the past months. This was taken in late September at Alpine Lake in California. The rain was coming in and I snapped a few shots before putting the camera away for protection. As you can see from the water lines on the boulder, it’s much needed.

Blue Sky over Junipers

043We’re expecting a major storm front in Northern California. I thought I’d post a recent photo from October to offset the cloudy stormy weather.

Flowing Fall Color

037Taken a few years ago, on one of our ‘fall peep’ hunts. These aspens appear in full fall color flowing down the mountain side along the Eastern Sierras.
