hiking
Canyonlands – Utah
First day in the Canyonlands area. Spend the entire day hiking all over buttes and mesas! We scrambled on slickrock and scree and found amazing views and historical finds around every bend.
Bisti Wilderness, New Mexico
Finally made it to the Bisti Wilderness in New Mexico. An area in the North Western part of the state. After finding the parking lot and hopping a few cattle fences the landscape changed dramatically after about a 3/4 of a mile.
Stacked
Came across of bunch of cairns in the forest last weekend. I suspected that this one had fallen over in the recent storm so I stacked a few rocks on top again for the next lucky traveler.
Blue Sky over Junipers
We’re expecting a major storm front in Northern California. I thought I’d post a recent photo from October to offset the cloudy stormy weather.
Hike to Star Lake
One of my favorite places to hike to in the Lake Tahoe Basin is Star Lake. A little alpine lake that has many fond memories.
Fall in Calaveras
Morning hike on the Arnold Rim Trail. We started kind of early so when we approached this tree on the trail it was shady. On the way back to the car, the morning sun lit up the old oak tree and its fall color.
Fungus
Early morning hike on the Arnold Rim Trail and I spied these fungi on a fallen oak stump.
Limited Visibility
The Mt. Rose trail starts out around 8800′ in elevation and climbs steadily with views over Tahoe Meadow and Lake Tahoe. Inclement weather brought cloud cover over the lake and limited the visibility. Towards the end of our hike, the weather changed from patchy clouds, to cloudy, to light snow all within a couple of hours.
Trailblazing Pup II
I love hiking with my dog. She has so much fun, you can see it in her face when she’s in the forest. Although, this day hike there wasn’t as much scenery with the low cloud cover. It didn’t stop my pup from exploring and having a great time.
