Snow to Play In
My dog loves the snow. There is this spot along highway 88 that we stop at every once in awhile. It had snowed the night before. My dog got out of the car and romped all over the place. She got to this point, took a rest and if I could have read her mind, she was thinking, “Ohhh there’s more SNOW TO PLAY IN!!”
Shadow Puppet in the Snow
I was shooting along the Carson river and this little flower was sticking up out of the fresh powder. It looked like it was making shadow puppets in the snow.

Shrouded Horsetail Falls – 2013
In the month of February the setting sun hits the granite face of the ephemeral Horsetail Falls in Yosemite and it creates what people call a ‘firefall’. Alas, last season was a low water year and clouds shrouded much of the mountain as the sun set. I’ll be heading out to Yosemite in a few weeks and hopefully the conditions will be right. But the photo above was still intriguing.
Here is Yosemite’s Horsetail Falls on a good water year in 2011
Sand Harbor Sunset
One of my favorite shots of 2014 so far. Sun setting over the North shore of Tahoe basin as seen from Sand Harbor Overlook.
Beach at Sand Harbor
One of the many things I enjoy about the Tahoe Basin is the stillness of the water during certain times of the day.
Sand Harbor Overlook Trail
California is having a drought. I thought I’d head out to Sand Harbor in the Tahoe Basin to see how low the water was. In years past, the rocks are underwater. We need some rain soon.
