Final Look at Mt. Tallac
It was our final day of backpacking and this was Mt. Tallac from the ridge trail above Fallen Leaf Lake.
Hello, down there…
To give you an idea of the trail we came down. I’m above on a switch back taking photos while my sister hikes ahead of me.
Lean Left
When you head straight down on a slope like this one, you want to lean left the mountain.
Steep
From the meadow, the trail leads to this steep grade. It’s mostly granite scree and out in the open. It was a little intimidating at first.
Trailmarker
Coming down Mt. Tallac there was this nice new trailermarker pointing the way.
Back of Tallac
The 4 day backpacking trip was coming to a close. This was a look at the back of Mt. Tallac as we headed down the trail.
Beautiful Vistas
Just below Mt. Tallac there was this high meadow that had this incredible view. The mountains in this area are made up from a variety of colors.
High Mountain Wildflowers
We started our descent down the mountain. The weather heading down was intermittent rain and then the sun. The moments of light brighten up these these high mountain wildflowers. Most of the blooms were spent but they still had enough color to pop into view along the trail.
Storm and Light II
With the storm coming in, we decided to head down the mountain. But not before watching the sky open up a bit more, to cast some reflections onto Fallen Leaf Lake.
Storm and Light
Taken from the top of Tallac a morning storm front moved in over Fallen Leaf Lake. It was fun watching the storm and the light play out over South Lake Tahoe.
