A Rocky Trail
We left Heather Lake and followed along the rocky trail to the outlet.

Heather Lake
We left Lake Aloha and continued on the Tahoe Rim Trail to our next destination. We cut through a pass and we were greeted with another mountain lake. This is Heather Lake.
Real? or Reflection?
This was a fun shot. It was hard to tell where the reflections ended in the lake. The granite shoreline juts into the water and appears as one with reflection of the Crystal Range.
Clear Water
The water in Lake Aloha is so clear. We were only passing through so we didn’t get a chance to see how deep it was.
Lake Aloha II
Lake Aloha is over 2 miles long and at every turn, there was another great view of the lake and its surroundings.
Lake Aloha
In the Tahoe Basin, I think that Lake Aloha is one of my favorites. It’s high in elevation (so fewer crowds) and has an assortment of islands within it. The water is an incredible shade of blue. Can’t wait to go back and spend more time exploring the area.
One Tree Above Them All
I thought this tree was pretty interesting. Affixed to the granite, it stood above all the other trees in this section.
Shaped by the Winds
Lake Aloha’s shores are dotted with these trees shaped by the wind. It was sunny and clear as we hiked to our next campsite. I can image the forces of nature that it took to shaped these trees over time.
Marmot Family
Day 3 – near Lake Aloha, a family of marmots came out to see who was hiking through their territory. Mom came out to warn us to leave her kids alone.
