Ship Sails

Posted on Updated on

072On a trip to San Diego last month, I had the opportunity to visit the Maritime Museum of San Diego. These are the sails of the Star of India. It is the world’s oldest active sailing ship. She began her life on the stocks at Ramsey Shipyard in the Isle of Man in 1863. Iron ships were experiments of sorts then, with most vessels still being built of wood. Within five months of laying her keel, the ship was launched into her element. She bore the name Euterpe, after the Greek muse of music and poetry.

Sepia – D-D Barn

001I drive by this barn a few times a month when I head up to the Gold Country. I’ve taken photos of this barn a few times but in full color is was lacking something. Using the Sepia tone gave it the weathered look I was looking for.

Looking for Otters

Posted on Updated on

020High above this cove we were scanning the water for otters in the water. We spotted a few but I didn’t bring my zoom lens 😦 I used my 105mm and cropped the photo. You can see them bobbing in the water.
