Cool
Anyone Home?
Wandering around the tide pool, I saw this calcified seashell. It looked like a black turban snail had taken up residence but I don’t think anyone was home when I inspected it closer.
Fledgling Bald Eagle
Near Taylor Creek, I was able to capture this photo of a fledgling bald eagle.
Watch Children Carefully
Yes, please watch your children carefully, or the ground will swallow them up 😉
Attention
Beware of bats! Photo from my trip to Crater of the Moon, Idaho August 2013.
Halloween is Near

When the Earth Moved
Hiking in the back country near the PCT, I found this cool formation. The Tahoe basin was formed about 24 million years ago and several areas show evidence of this rise & fall of the landscape due to faulting.
Hope Valley Turning
Here’s a shot of Hope Valley turning colors. The runs of golden yellow are the aspens interspersed among the evergreens.
Caples Lake Dam
In this shot, the Caples Lake Dam in shadow and reflecting in the lake.
Sky Caught in Reflection
It started getting darker and I couldn’t decide if I wanted to stick around for sunset or head out. The weather was cloudy and it looked like it wasn’t going to amount to much. But then the clouds parted a bit and the sky revealed itself. I quickly adjusted the camera and caught the sky’s reflection in the lake.
