I wanna climb that!
Lake Aloha
In the Tahoe Basin, I think that Lake Aloha is one of my favorites. It’s high in elevation (so fewer crowds) and has an assortment of islands within it. The water is an incredible shade of blue. Can’t wait to go back and spend more time exploring the area.
Massive Juniper
This is the massive juniper tree from yesterday’s photo. I have no idea how old it is. Looking at its crown, I suspect that it’s been hit by lighting.
Sun Through the Juniper
There was a massive old juniper near our campsite. I loved the colors in the tree and the bright green lichen growing on it. I looked up and there was the sun shining through the branches.
Ralston Peak
After arriving at Tamarack Lake and setting up our campsite, I had the chance you go exploring. Here is an old Juniper tree with Ralston Peak in the background.
Exposed at Sand Harbor
Boulders as big as cars, normally under water are exposed at Sand Harbor.
Bonsai Rock – Lake Tahoe
On an overcast day, I scrambled down to this cove and took photos at a place called Bonsai Rock.
Junipers Watching Half Dome
In Yosemite there can be so many crowds milling around to get a view of iconic Half Dome. I found a spot where there are few people and a different angle. These junipers reminded me of people standing around just looking at the great view.
Colorful Rock Formations
On a dusty road near Monitor Pass I found this colorful outcrop of rock formations.
