Rolling In Fast

Another Storm Coming
End of the second day and we had the best views. That’s Echo Lake in the distance. Another storm was coming in, we could hear the thunder towards the South.
Echo Lake
Day 2 – After hiking about 8 miles, we ended up at Echo Lake Chalet. You can pay for a ferry to take you across the lake ($12.00 per person) it cuts off about 2 additional miles. The boat cuts across and then passes through this small channel. There are several cabins that dot the lake and some has been around for 3 generations. After docking it was another 2 miles to our next campsite. This is Echo Lake as seen from the trail to Tamarack Lake.
Round Lake
On our 1st day out, Round Lake is a short 2 mile hike from the Big Meadow trail head A windless early morning made for easy reflections in the water.
Cove at Bonsai Rock
Switched to black and white for this photo. The water looks like a meandering stream but this is part of Lake Tahoe. Normally these boulders are underwater. We need rain soon.
Bonsai Rock – Lake Tahoe
On an overcast day, I scrambled down to this cove and took photos at a place called Bonsai Rock.
Lupine on the Lake
This Lupine on the shores of Lake Tahoe stood about three feet tall.
Be Vigilant
The restored fire lookout at Martis PEak reminds us that we need to be vigilant during the dry season. This lookout station has views of Truckee, Northstar and the Northern reaches of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Martis Peak Overlook
There’s a old dirt forest road on the Northshore of Tahoe. If you walk along the trail by the meadow of Mule Ears you’ll come to this overlook. High above Lake Tahoe is this beautiful vista.
Night on the Lake
Taken from the rocks just below the Sand Harbor Overlook trail. In the distance, the lights from Incline Village. I use my headlamp to light paint the boulders at waters edge.
