Break in the Storm

101It’s been raining here on the West Coast. After work, I drove down the coast to see if I could get a break during the storms and snap some cool shots. This was about 30 minutes before sunset and the clouds let up a bit to add some light to the shore. The stormy clouds still packed with rain.

285Reviewing my photos from Yosemite earlier this month, I saw this photo and the boulder looked like a face. Somehow, it reminded me of one of those long days when you just need to dunk your head under some cool water.

untitled-249Same old tree trunk at Cascade Falls, just another angle. As a photographer, sometimes even if you move 5 feet away, the photo becomes something totally different. I don’t know why but I thought this old tree trunk was very interesting. Maybe it was the moisture and the drier part of the trunk that added depth…

Still Water Under The Bridge

untitled-239Scrambled down to the water’s edge, under the bridge at Cascade Falls. There was more fallen debris that made for an interesting shot. I used the neutral density filter to ‘slow’ the water’s motion down and make it look like ice.

Jagged River

Merced – Absence of Color

untitled-150Just for fun, I took this black & white of the Merced River. I also used my new Hoya 6-stop Neutral Density filter and I think it created an intriguing photo. More photos coming this week with that filter. I think it was worth the money spent.
