Receding Water
I used the neutral density filter to capture the receding water in the tide pool.
Break in the Storm
It’s been raining here on the West Coast. After work, I drove down the coast to see if I could get a break during the storms and snap some cool shots. This was about 30 minutes before sunset and the clouds let up a bit to add some light to the shore. The stormy clouds still packed with rain.
Face in the Falls
Reviewing my photos from Yosemite earlier this month, I saw this photo and the boulder looked like a face. Somehow, it reminded me of one of those long days when you just need to dunk your head under some cool water.
Another Point of View
Same old tree trunk at Cascade Falls, just another angle. As a photographer, sometimes even if you move 5 feet away, the photo becomes something totally different. I don’t know why but I thought this old tree trunk was very interesting. Maybe it was the moisture and the drier part of the trunk that added depth…
Still Water Under The Bridge
Scrambled down to the water’s edge, under the bridge at Cascade Falls. There was more fallen debris that made for an interesting shot. I used the neutral density filter to ‘slow’ the water’s motion down and make it look like ice.
Cascade Falls – Yosemite
Taken from Hwy 120, near the North gate of Yosemite. Cascade Falls is just beyond the first tunnel as you enter the park. On a good water year, this waterfall is roaring. But, even in a low water year, it’s still impressive. This shot is taken from the bridge, focusing on the lower half of the falls. What’s nice about a low water year, is the exposure of the rocks, the color and even the debris makes for an interesting photo.
Jagged River
The thing that caught my eye as I walked along the edge of the river was the rocks and rapids.
Merced – Absence of Color
Just for fun, I took this black & white of the Merced River. I also used my new Hoya 6-stop Neutral Density filter and I think it created an intriguing photo. More photos coming this week with that filter. I think it was worth the money spent.
