Month: July 2014
Good Morning
Sunrise over Waterhouse Peak from a rock outcropping near Showers Lake.
Waiting For the Storm
End of Day 1 and we were waiting for the storm to roll in. The setting sun lightens up Waterhouse Peak and the storm forms in the distance.
Exploring
Day 1 at Showers Lake. After a quick thunderstorm, I had the chance to go exploring around the lake. Cool boulders to scramble around.
High Clouds Over Showers Lake
The high clouds were gathering for a thunderstorm. Tried to get as many shots before diving back into the tent for the afternoon rain.
Wild Lupine by the Stream
So many wildflowers in bloom along the trail. Here wild lupine grows by a stream.
A Creek Runs Through It
Not sure if the creek was there first and the tree fell over during a storm. Or if the log was there and recent weather caused the water to divert into a new path.
Round Lake
On our 1st day out, Round Lake is a short 2 mile hike from the Big Meadow trail head A windless early morning made for easy reflections in the water.
Morning in Big Meadow
Recently went backpacking for 4 days in the Tahoe Basin area. This was the 1st day we were out. We started at the trail-head Big Meadow near HWY 89 at 6:30 in the morning.
Too Lazy
Another shot from my trip down the coast last month. All this beautiful beach with the rocks in the surf. These young elephant seals seemed to be too lazy to enjoy their environment.
