Cool

Still Standing

Posted on Updated on

019The terrain as we hiked up to Mt. Tallac is pretty barren as you get closer to the summit. Most of it is exposed rock and a few old trees. This cluster of Junipers has probably been hit a few times by lighting but it’s still standing.

Heather Lake

110We left Lake Aloha and continued on the Tahoe Rim Trail to our next destination. We cut through a pass and we were greeted with another mountain lake. This is Heather Lake.

Real? or Reflection?

075This was a fun shot. It was hard to tell where the reflections ended in the lake. The granite shoreline juts into the water and appears as one with reflection of the Crystal Range.

A Creek Runs Through It

017Not sure if the creek was there first and the tree fell over during a storm. Or if the log was there and recent weather caused the water to divert into a new path.

Too Lazy

204-2Another shot from my trip down the coast last month. All this beautiful beach with the rocks in the surf. These young elephant seals seemed to be too lazy to enjoy their environment.

Pine cone and Forest Phlox

168I’ve seen a million pine cones on the forest floor before . It wasn’t until a recent hike that I noticed the variations in color within the cone. I thought, this was a cool shot against the phlox.

194Switched to black and white for this photo. The water looks like a meandering stream but this is part of Lake Tahoe. Normally these boulders are underwater. We need rain soon.
