Welcome to Canterbury
Had the pleasure of attending the Renner Winery Annual Bonfire and BBQ a few weekends ago. This is the view of the vineyards that ‘Doc Renner’ calls “Canterbury” because it reminds him of New Zealand.
Fallen
I took this shot last Fall at Crater of the Moon in Idaho. This fallen tree had probably stood for a long time. It probably was anchored for another few years before it finally toppled. But, even after it fell it made for a good shot.
More Fun in the Dark
Lowered the color temperature to 2800 Kelvin. It brings out the blue tones. The hotel at Rockaway beach illuminates the waves.
Pacifica
Ventured out to get in some night photography shots. This is Pacifica, CA, the lights in the far background come from freeway just beyond the hill.
Pigeon Point Lighthouse
Pigeon Point Light Station or Pigeon Point Lighthouse is a lighthouse built in 1871 to guide ships on the Pacific coast of California. It is the tallest lighthouse (tied with Point Arena Light) on the West Coast of the United States. It is still an active Coast Guard aid to navigation. Pigeon Point Light Station is located on the coastal highway (State Route 1), 5 miles (8 km) south of Pescadero, California, between Santa Cruz and San Francisco. The 115-foot (35 m), white masonry tower, resembles the typical New England structure. Because of its location and ready access from the main highway, Pigeon Point entertains a large number of public visitors.
The lighthouse and the land around have been preserved as Pigeon Point Light Station State Historic Park, a California state park. The lighthouse is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and designated as a California Historical Landmark.
Break in the Storm
It’s been raining here on the West Coast. After work, I drove down the coast to see if I could get a break during the storms and snap some cool shots. This was about 30 minutes before sunset and the clouds let up a bit to add some light to the shore. The stormy clouds still packed with rain.
